The new Conservative Government has decided, without notice, not to honour the promised final release of funding for the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund.
The Energy and Climate Change Secretary, Amber Rudd announced that the Government will stop any future funding releases of the Green Deal Home Improvement Fund.
She stated that future schemes must provide better value for money, supporting the goal of insulating a million more homes over the next five years and the Government’s commitment to tackle fuel poverty.
This decision has no impact on existing Green Deal Home Improvement Fund vouchers.
Today’s announcement comes as part of Government’s wider review of energy policies. The Energy and Climate Change Secretary has confirmed that her first priority is to get spending under control.
Under the Green Deal, properties will be able to have energy efficiency improvements without the owners having to find the cash up front. Instead, businesses will provide the cost, getting their money back via the energy bill.
In it's simplest terms The Green Deal is aPay as you Save Plan.
However, there is a "Golden Rule" which states that the amount that you pay will not exceed the amount that you save. To find out the full facts about the Green Deal click here
